QIGONG - NEW CLASS - ANCIENT TECHNIQUES
It is now time to introduce several more powerful Qigong practices into the schedule here at Byron Bay Martial Arts. So next week a new Wednesday morning Qigong class will be starting - from 9.30am to 11.00am.
This class will be comprised of: Wei Dan Shaking, Shaolin Coiling and Bone Breathing – all traditional Qigong practices for improving and maintaining good health.
Wei Dan Shaking: I learned this pleasurable shaking routine from my first Tai Chi Instructor and have always treasured it as a very deep healing and release for any tensions, blockages, emotional imbalance or stagnant energy that may be stored in and around the organs.
Shaolin Coiling: This set conditions and energises the joints and bones and develops strength, vitality and empowerment. Based on Kung Fu joint rotation exercises, it is one of the most rejuvenating Qigong practices and develops flexibility, core strength and a strong and upright posture.
Bone Breathing: This is an ancient Taoist technique to literally breath energy into the joints and bones. It an exquisitely nourishing method of Chi enhancement at a very deep level - into the marrow of the bones!
The class will be offered as an 8 Week Course, commencing on Wednesday 24th April to Wednesday 11th June - 9.30am to 11.00am. The Course Fee will be $120 for the 8 classes.
The Course will be suitable for all levels - beginners as well as older students.
I hope you can make it.

27th anniversary of the Dojang
My Taiji teacher, Patrick Kelly, just did his last class in Australia, at our beautiful Martial Arts Dojang here in Byron Bay. On experiencing him teaching and demonstrating his expert knowledge of the art of Taiji and seeing the focused awareness of all students present, I was reminded, as always, of how profound and enriching the system of Taiji is – an ever deepening path of meditation, that takes the practitioner into deeper and deeper states of consciousness. I, like many others throughout the world, am honoured and privileged to know Patrick and to have learnt from him over these many inspiring years.
I also feel grateful for this unique and wonderful Martial Arts Dojang – so full of light and presence. Perhaps this has been created by the 27 years of health, martial arts and meditation traditions, practiced here by so many sincere and dedicated students. The Dojang has a light and peaceful ambience and there is a sparkling sense of love infused throughout the space. Thankyou to all past and present students. I am looking forward to many more years of deepening and refining the body, mind and spirit through martial arts and meditation practices.
